PruBSN Introduces PruBSN Damai
A flexible Medical Coverage with Extensive Cancer Coverage, Advanced Medical Treatments and Mental Health Care
Kuala Lumpur, 24 May 2023 – Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (PruBSN), Malaysia’s No. 1 Family Takaful Operator* launched PruBSN Damai, a new solution package which provides a comprehensive medical coverage to meet the changing needs of customers during hardships and uncertainties.
PruBSN Damai through Medic TotalCare rider offers unique features for the first mental health treatment for inpatient and outpatient, additional lifetime limit for advance medical treatments (inclusive of surgery robotics, and gamma knife radiosurgery), extensive cancer coverage for outpatient cancer treatment including cancer remission follow-up and daily treatments allowance when undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy. It is designed with a high annual limit up to RM400,000 with no lifetime limit.
Apart from that, customers may choose to enhance their annual medical coverage limit with additional RM1,000,000. Through this option, it will double the benefit limits for outpatient cancer and kidney dialysis treatment, advanced medical treatments and other extended benefits. Best of all, if the customers stay claim- free for a year, they will receive Health Reward of RM500** for covered preventive care items.
Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of PruBSN emphasised on the importance of being financially prepared to face unexpected events and therefore, PruBSN Damai is an ideal solution for individuals looking for life protection with all rounded medical coverage to address all health concerns.
Wan Saifulrizal added that according to the 2019 National Health and Morbidity Survey, 1 in 3 Malaysians suffer from a mental health problem and nearly half a million Malaysians were already feeling symptoms of depression before the pandemic started. “We recognise the importance of mental health and the impact it can have on one’s physical health. These alarming numbers led to the inclusion of the mental health care coverage in Medic TotalCare rider under PruBSN Damai, and we felt that this is the step in the right direction for us to reassure our customers that we can be their trusted companion through their difficult times,” added Wan Saifulrizal.
“Mental health and physical health are interrelated. Problems in one area can often lead to problems in the other. Chronic pain, for example, can lead to depression and anxiety. Chronic illnesses, such as diabetes or heart disease can also impact your mental health, causing stress and anxiety about managing your condition. Medic TotalCare rider under PruBSN Damai was designed to bridge the care of both physical and mental health so that customers have access to the care they need to maintain good health. Separately, customers could also opt to attach Ihsan Rider to their PruBSN Damai plans for only RM5 per month, which will be channeled to PruBSN’s Microtakaful Jariyah. The Microtakaful Jariyah initiative is a corporate social responsibility programme by PruBSN to sponsor 1-year free coverage worth RM10,000 for eligible and selected breadwinners of poor and hardcore poor families. To date, PruBSN has issued more than 100,000 certificates since its inception in 2018 and have paid out close to RM3million of claims to families upon the demise of the breadwinner.
