PruBSN WarisanPlus:
The Best Hibah Plan for Your Family

A happy family by the beach

Hibah is an act of giving and refers to the transfer of ownership of something specific from a donor (Wahib) to the recipient (Mawhub lahu) without any conditions.

According to Schedule 10 of the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013, as a takaful participant, you can nominate an individual to receive your takaful benefits as an executor or as a beneficiary under conditional hibah upon your passing. This option to nominate a beneficiary via conditional hibah is a special provision to ensure your loved ones receive your benefits without having to go through lengthy inheritance procedures or wait for it to be distributed as part of your estate along with your other assets.

The benefits of conditional hibah in takaful
When you nominate a beneficiary under conditional hibah, your takaful death benefits will automatically be excluded from faraid (the division of assets and property according to the Islamic law of inheritance) upon your passing. This can be a complex process that often takes time. By nominating a beneficiary, you can ensure your loved ones receive the benefits of your takaful certificate without needing to go through lengthy inheritance procedures.

Under conditional hibah, however, you can make them the recipient of your takaful certificate’s death benefits which will exclude those same benefits from your estate distribution. This gives your nominee direct access to your death benefits, enabling them to use the funds as they deem fit.

Alternatively, you can also leave your hibah to an executor, who will then be responsible for distributing your takaful death benefits according to faraid.

Leaving a hibah to your family can give you significant peace of mind, especially knowing that your loved ones will be taken care of and will not be financially burdened by your passing. Your family, too, will be grateful for the financial buffer to support them while they get back on their feet.
